Purpose, Intention, Program

While my behaviors, opinions, and philosophies might bewilder the uninitiated, they still serve to entertain the observer. The purpose of the squirrel boy experience is to show what the meaning of life is as I see it. My intention is to help people understand who I am and, if possible, help apply some of my philosophies to the lives of others. This is not a self-help program. Nor is it a stand-in for a “life coach”. My program is mainly (yet not exclusively) for entertainment.

Within my program are select categories of my interest that will be explored in detail. I will call these “The pillars of the squirrel psyche”. These are subjects and activities that I will document for the viewer as I perform them. My program is entrepreneurial in that aspect. My product will take the form of laughs, questions, and answers for all life has to offer (within the aforementioned pillars).

                              These pillars are:

Comedy: learning how to put worry and seriousness aside in an effort to find humor in the chaos and monotony of everyday life. Here nothing will be off limits and taste is always subjective with the exception of what I will call “A cheap laugh”. This includes blatant racism, cringe comedy, and deliberately being annoying for reactions sake. As counterintuitive as it sounds, good comedy is a challenging discipline and it is my firm belief that to excel at it you have to be clever.

Music: Another firmly held belief is that good music will never die. A squirrel boy should admire and respect music and musicians as well as strive to contribute to its glory. Here, the definition of “good music” is even more rigid. Though tastes and styles may change, music should always be moving and nuanced in a unique way while still adhering to the principals of music theory. I will limit “unfavorable” examples to overly repetitive and monotoned rap or trap music. Lyrics within songs with no meaning or purpose past boasting an edgy lifestyle and use of vocabulary that is deliberately dumbed down and vulgar renders the piece “not good”.

Philosophy: Big questions with even bigger answers and perhaps none at all. We question social norms, gender politics, romance and love, and any motivator of human behavior. My program will be placed somewhere between realism and active-nihilism. We will search for purpose, or lack thereof, in employment, education, relationships, government, society, life and death. This pillar is meant to be discussed and shared at any convenience and hopefully can help strengthen the appreciation for the short time we have on this planet. Those individuals with no intention of questioning life are not squirrel friendly and should be regarded as blind or dumb.

S.T.E.M: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are not only interesting to a squirrel boy but absolutely vital to the evolution of our species and universal life as a whole. We strive to not only understand how things work but why they work. We appreciate these disciplines because they actively affect our quality of life. Specific interests include artificial intelligence, quantum computing, astronomy and space exploration, aviation, and virtual reality.

Culinary arts: As most of my work life has been in the service industry, I hold a strong appreciation for the creativity and discipline that goes into food preparation. My program will include cook-along episodes with various friends and acquaintances in an effort to showcase the diversity in cooking and hopefully inspire the audience to explore and experiment with food.

Science fiction in literature, film, and games: Similar to the “S.T.E.M. pillar”, my interest in science in general is at the head of my affinity for pop culture. through science and engineering, dreams can become reality and similarly through science fiction, your only limit is your imagination. A squirrel boy often is lost in his thoughts and fantasies and will actively seek people out to discuss it with. remarkable films are as follows: Ex Machina, Star Wars franchise, total Recall, Bicentennial Man, Minority Report, Blade Runner, Prospect, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Dune. Notable video games: Dead Space, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Mirrors Edge, Halo, Portal.

We at the Squirrel Boy Experience look forward to entertaining you for many years to come and with some luck can show you that life is still worth living.
